In our society today sex is a very open subject and is being observed by young adults in everyday life. Walking down the street we see half naked women plastered on billboards and street signs, leaving nothing to the imagination and making adolescents everywhere question why and wonder what that is. As children we are taught that abstinence before marriage is the right way to live, and engaging in such†¦show more content†¦From experience, at the age of ten I was taught by my mother that I should never engage in sex unless I was married and ready to procreate. At the age of twelve I was sexually active. By the age of fifteen I was pregnant with my first son and becoming a single mother at a very early age . When you are young and curious and want to know why something is a certain way, you look for answers and research as much as you can to get a full idea about what something is. So when children are taught that sex is bad without given any background information to why or what it is, they tend to look deeper and start to engage in the activities to test the water and see if what they are taught is true. Rebellion is a very common among children and teenagers, and to be forced into believing that something is bad and harmful for you, just to find out the truth about sex, will eventually cause a stir and up rise of many young adults. More teens are learning sex from the media or from their friends instead of from their parents or a sexual education class taught in schools. â€Å"Nearly three fourths of television shows contains talk about sex or show sexual behavior,† (King and Regan 2). When we drive down the road we see several stores promoting sex such as Condoms to Go, Co ndom Sense, Sarahs Secret, and New Fine Arts. Children who have no clue to what these stores are, automatically want to know everything about it and why it
